We’re delighted to share that our kitchen renovation project at Mercread Youth Centre is now complete and later last month, we celebrated with a special thank-you event for everyone who helped make it happen.

Over the past year, we’ve been working hard to transform our kitchen into a more modern, functional, and accessible space. With support from our amazing community, local businesses, and generous funders, we were able to raise the money needed to carry out essential improvements, including the installation of a height-adjustable countertop to make the space more inclusive for everyone.

A huge part of this success was thanks to the £4,000 raised during the Seaford Chamber of Commerce Golf Day, which specifically funded the accessible countertop. We’re so grateful to the Chamber and to everyone who contributed in any way, whether through donations, fundraising, or simply spreading the word.

At the thank-you event, guests were invited to see the renovated kitchen for themselves, enjoy some refreshments, and hear more about how this new space will benefit the young people and groups who use the centre every week. It was a lovely opportunity to reflect on what we’ve achieved together and to show our appreciation.

This kitchen is more than just a room, it’s a space where young people can learn new skills, share meals, and feel a sense of belonging. We’re excited for all the ways it will be used in the months and years ahead.

Thank you again to everyone who supported this project. We couldn’t have done it without you!
